Hermaphrodite L1 hatches with 202 somatic and 20 pharyngeal neurons; 80 postembryonic neurons are later added to the somatic nervous system to make a total of 302 neurons (no new pharyngeal neurons are generated during the postembryonic stages). All male-specific neurons, except CEMs are born postembryonically. |
