related to Slidable Worm. It will be back online soon.
06/25/2002:
Slidable worm, currently harboring
12 annotated images, has been added to Wormatlas. If you are a Mac computer
user, you can view Slidable worm with the internet browsers; Netscape
communicator 6.2 or
Internet Explorer . This restriction is brought about by the requirements
of the applet code which is not supported by the earlier versions of Netscape
communicator for Mac. The preliminary table of SW images has been moved to here.
Please note, however, this table will not be updated from now on and new images
will only be added to the applet. It is also highly recommended that you read
the directions about how to use the
applet before viewing the Slidable Worm.
01/03/2002:
This atlas concentrates first on
features of the adult anatomy of the hermaphrodite nematode, followed by a concise
description of key differences in the adult male anatomy. At a later date, we
will also try to provide comprehensive coverage of the anatomy of the L1 larva,
and where feasible, some features of embryonic development. All features are
described from the species Caenorhabditis elegans, and concentrate on the wild
type. In the future we look forward to illustrating key mutant phenotypes of
this species, using a similar format. It remains difficult to provide extensive
illustrations of these tissues within the scientific literature in journal articles,
and we expect that this type of enhanced database should prove useful to many
studies. This atlas is aimed to make nematode anatomy relatively simple and accessible
to everyone. We welcome your inputs, comments, and submissions. Any submitted
data will appear in WA with proper academic credit given to the original submitter.
It is highly recommended that the
user guide is read before going through the other pages in this atlas, since
the user guide will help you utilize the data herein optimally.
Wormatlas is being prepared in close
collaboration with the Wormbase; throughout WA you will find links to relevant
WB pages.
