DESCRIPTION

Amphid wing "C" cells. Have ciliated sheet-like sensory endings closely associated with amphid sheath.

Functions: Chemotaxis to benzaldehyde,butanone, isoamylalcohol, 2,3 pentanedione and 2,4,5 trimethylthiazole (Bargmann C.I. et al 1993; L'Etoile N.D. and Bargmann C.I. 2000).

Receptor expression: Express mammalian capsaicin receptor-like channel protein OSM-9 (Colbert H.A. et al 1997) . Express transmembrane guanylyl cyclase DAF-11 (Birnby D.A. et al 2000). Express G protein-coupled serpentine receptor, STR-2, asymmetrically (randomly on the right or left side) (Troemel E. R. et al, 1999).
