Junction

The meeting of two distinct objects. In anatomy, there are several possible meanings:

1) Intercellular junction, such as a gap junction or an adherens junction.

2) Tissue junction, such as the meeting of the spermatheca and the uterus, where the interfacial cells are known as the spermathecal junction cells.

Junctional complex See Secretory membrane
Junctional core

A narrowing of the spermathecal lumen at the spermathecal valve, which is visible by DIC optics. Cytoplasmic extensions of two cells from each spermathecal lineage form the core and their nuclei apparently form a plug which blocks this narrow passage prior to laying of the first fertilized oocyte. The fate of these two cells after displacement of the core is unknown.

Juvenile Larval (S)

Part of the nematode life cycle that includes the larval stages of development (L1-L4) during which cell divison and formation of adult tissues occurs. In the nematode literature for other species, the developmental stages are often known as J1, J2, J3 and J4 instead of L1, L2, L3 and L4.
